Alexandre Petrus, known as AP, is a self-taught stencil artist born in 1988 in the Paris region. He currently lives and works in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Deeply influenced by comic books in his childhood, Petrus began illustrating his own stories and reproducing his favorite heroes as early as age 11—laying the foundation for his lifelong passion for visual storytelling.
After earning a master’s degree in graphic communication in 2012, he turned away from the digital sphere to pursue a more hands-on creative path. Sketchbooks remained his constant companion through various jobs, until he eventually embraced his true calling: drawing. He began customizing sneakers and bags before transitioning fully into the world of street art.
In 2020, Petrus joined the GRAFFITI PARIS collective, a pivotal moment that introduced him to aerosol techniques and the vibrant street art community. A chance encounter with a work by Artiste-Ouvrier led him to discover stencil art—an instant revelation. Meticulously cutting his stencils while painting with expressive spontaneity, Petrus creates powerful juxtapositions that explore duality and harmony.
His signature works combine black and white stencils with colorful, abstract backgrounds inspired by Asian philosophy. Drawing on themes such as nature, animals, architecture, and pop culture, AP’s art is a celebration of life—infused with optimism, energy, and a reverence for what is and what once was.
