Robinson Crusoe \u2014 I\u2019ve always preferred him in my imagination.<\/p>\n
I picture him there on his deserted beach, stretched out on the fine sand, a crab at his feet, a bottle of homemade rum in hand, and a cigarette slowly burning away. His gaze drifts across the blue horizon as he reflects on his solitary adventures. Maybe he\u2019s laughing at himself, thinking about his attempts to start a fire.<\/p>\n
Or perhaps he\u2019s watching television, wondering why that guy on Koh-Lanta<\/i> once ran to put out his own fire. At least he doesn\u2019t have to deal with the problem of community.<\/p>\n
His island is a blend of serenity and chaos: on one side, the quiet beauty of nature; on the other, the remnants of his past.<\/p>\n
As he smokes his cigarette, Robinson wonders whether he would really prefer to be rescued \u2014 or to keep living by his own rules.<\/p>\n
