As a child growing up in Yorkshire I found the works of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth inspiring and liberating. Maybe it is the mix of beautiful countryside and urban drabness in that part of the world which has inspired many other artists? I’m not sure, but I always felt that how things look was just as important as how they function. Our surroundings affect how we feel, how we think and how we act.
In my own abstract work I am always aware that nature points the way to great design. Simple objects shaped by the ocean or the elements and the myriad forms of biology never cease to amaze. As with most artists, their work is an appreciation of all that they value. In my work it is a sense of balance, simplicity and an elegant dynamic.
I have a degree in Product Design (2001 UK), and emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 2007. I have been a full time sculptor for many years and export my works worldwide.
