Robinson Crusoe — I’ve always preferred him in my imagination.
I picture him there on his deserted beach, stretched out on the fine sand, a crab at his feet, a bottle of homemade rum in hand, and a cigarette slowly burning away. His gaze drifts across the blue horizon as he reflects on his solitary adventures. Maybe he’s laughing at himself, thinking about his attempts to start a fire.
Or perhaps he’s watching television, wondering why that guy on Koh-Lanta once ran to put out his own fire. At least he doesn’t have to deal with the problem of community.
