In Far Away, the Sea, Sophie Dumont continues her sensitive exploration of seascapes with an approach that is both refined and deeply expressive. The composition is structured by horizontal layers of pictorial material that suggest the different planes of the horizon: sand, sea, sky.

Here, the artist uses a palette knife technique, superimposing thin layers of oil in a palette of beiges, warm grays, and nuanced blues, punctuated by a few dark red accents that intensify the depth of the scene. The eye is drawn to this distant, almost erased horizon line, where the sky seems to melt into the water. This work gives off an impression of calm and withdrawal, like a silent pause facing infinity.
