In Fantaisie, Sophie Dumont gives free rein to a more spontaneous, almost playful composition, while remaining faithful to her theme of stylized libraries. The books, aligned on two contrasting shelves, seem to converse through their colors, rhythms, and assertive verticalities. The palette is enlivened by touches of orange, lilac, olive, brick, and golden ochre, energized by chalky whites and matte blacks.

This work evokes a mental shelf where each volume could be a fragment of thought, an anecdote, a dream. The orange background of the lower shelf structures the composition and accentuates its contemporary anchoring. Despite the intimate format, the whole radiates a joyful, almost musical energy, like a visual score.
