In this work, Sophie Dumont continues her pictorial exploration of stylized libraries, a recurring motif in her work. The composition is structured in three horizontal registers where the books, reduced to refined vertical forms, become veritable architectural elements.
The palette combines soft, mineral tones—beiges, ochres, grays, deep blues, and muted greens—punctuated by brighter touches that create a rhythmic effect. Applied in oil with a palette knife in successive layers, the paint reveals a work of strata and textures that evokes the accumulated memory of books and time.
