The canvas plays on contrasts: between chalky whites, neutral grays, velvety beiges and these deep, burnt reds, which give the painting its internal tension. We feel in the material—thick, striated, sometimes scarified—the work of the knife, the deposit of the collage, the gesture that insists, that connects, that digs.
