Monika Nowak

Monika Nowak was born in Clermont-Ferrand (in the center of France) within a family of Polish artists. She lives and works in Paris. Her mother, an actress in a theater group in Cracow, has been the primary model for her gallery of female figures, as well as for the female heroines from Hitchcock's films, rock music, fashion, and science fiction literature.

Monika Nowak's work explores her intuition: energetic, independent, and proactive. Through her sexy-pop heroines, she conveys a certain vision of today's woman - strong yet fragile. Throughout her artistic career, she has developed a vision of epic worlds where the fantastical coexists with the barbaric, the poetic challenges the aesthetic, and the melancholic alternates with the euphoric.

Her delicate heroines are paradoxical, contradictory, excessive, but also dreamy, gentle, wild, poetic, and provocative.
